LETS work together

DonationS so far:  $008,192

LETS supports the provision of information & communication resources and training to the communities of Letefoho by supplying pre-loved laptops and other IT equipment.

To date, thanks to the generosity of so many donors, we have been able to ship 53 laptops and a new laser printer to Timor Leste. These are being used in a computer training program operated by Letefoho Senior High School which made history last year.

This was not only the first time the school has been able to offer computer-based education; it was also the first school-based Information Technology course ever to run in Timor Leste.

As there is no electricity supply to the school, the computer classes are currently run in the church hall. One of our priority projects is the first phase of refurbishing the school, which will include facilitating computer classes within the school. Special thanks to Schenker P/L and Rotary for their assistance with shipping the computers.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime for many of the graduates.

LETS congratulate...

Our first computer graduates of 2015!

"We are incredibly proud to congratulate our graduating class of 2015 from the LETS Computer Training Course." says LETS Chairperson, Georgina Loughnan.

Sixteen students aged from 16 to 45 completed the three-month course in June 2015 to earn their IT certification. This is only the second group of graduates from the course which was established through LETS support last year.

"This is the opportunity of a lifetime for many of the graduates," explains Georgina. "since the Timor Leste Government made the decision last year to give the course full accreditation".

A number of  the students will go on to university next year, while one nun who has graduated will use her newly acquired IT skills in her role as a teacher. For the remaining graduates, the course has enhanced their ability to seek out further education and self-development, in addition to improving their employment opportunities.
