Powering Education: New Solar Battery Installed at Our Lady of Mt Carmel High School
For more than a decade, LETS has worked alongside the Letefoho community to improve access to education through technology.
Back in 2016, a generous partnership between solar industry professionals, suppliers and volunteers delivered a solar power system to Our Lady of Mt Carmel High School, providing reliable electricity for students and the wider community. A follow-up technical visit in 2018 helped keep the system operating, but over time the battery system eventually failed.
In 2026, thanks to a chance connection with Sahe Da Silva based in Dili, LETS was introduced to Brett Reedy and the wonderful team at Inovar4. Following a swift assessment, a replacement battery system was installed in October 2026.
The project was jointly funded by LETS and the Parish of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, which contributed 20% of the costs. We extend our sincere thanks to Inovar4, which also generously donated several components and services, helping to reduce the overall project cost.
This upgrade will help ensure students and teachers will have reliable power for learning, technology and community activities for years to come.
