LETS support efforts on the ground
A major mission for LETS is to support the establishment of a viable tourism industry in Letefoho, Timor Leste. Paul Arblaster is spearheading the LETS Immersion Tours initiative. As a first step, LETS is working hand-in-hand with immersion tour operator, Harvest Inroads, to put Letefoho on the map."We are delighted with how well the inaugural trip to Timor Leste went ", says Paul. "Organised by Harvest Inroads, the trip took place in May 2015, and included time in our twinned Parish of Letefoho.""We received further enquiries and expressions of interest so we worked with Harvest on the May 2016 immersion tour. This eight-day tour was a really wonderful opportunity to spend time with the beautiful people of this region and support them as they strive to build a better future."Paul explains that, as part of this 'unique life experience', tour participants:
got an up close and personal encounter with the grace and generosity of the East Timorese people
enjoyed immersion in the day-to-day lives of the people of Letefoho
travelled to rarely visited villages and unique places of interest
enjoy the scenic and beautiful mountainous region of Letefoho
help to fulfil our promise to support some of the world’s most needy people
"This is a really wonderful opportunity to spend time with the beautiful people of this region and support them as they strive to build a better future."
